Meet the team – Karen Edwards

I am a seasoned HR professional, initially working in generalist HR roles for the Benefits Agency and Addaction. I have operated at Director level for the last 10 years, firstly as Director of HR at London East Connexions Partnership, a £25M private sector company, where I deputised for the Chief Executive, controlled all aspects of HR, directed research, recruiting, selection, training and development. I chaired the Job Evaluation and H&S committees, was responsible for all legal HR matters and chaired the joint consultative committee with the trade union. LECP’s purpose was to deliver the Connexions service to young people across nine London East Boroughs and the City of London. As a Connexions Partnership, it was one of the two largest in the country.

From 2007 to 2013 I was Director of Organisational Development and Student Services at Writtle College, a specialist provider of land-based education. My key tasks were to lead and manage HR, H&S, Learner Services and Student Residential Services and was responsible for planning, implementing and managing organisational change to ensure the College met its strategic vision and objectives – the lead on strategic planning for the College as a whole. Also to lead on total HR resource planning and workforce reviews.

I am accomplished in managing and overseeing change, strategic reviews, redundancies, TUPE transfers, H&S, cultural change, performance management, reward and job evaluation schemes, competency frameworks, training needs analysis and coaching for improved performance.
