I have been involved in the recruitment industry since 1968 and Chairman and CEO of The TRG Group since 1972, which delivers a range of services; outsourcing, managed services, witness familiarisation training, vocational rehabilitation, Internet business-to-business recruitment platforms and an expert witness practice Trevor Gilbert & Associates.

My business experience of over 38 years has encompassed conceptualisation and delivery of a range of client led services in the private and public sectors.

My specialist knowledge of real time employment and recruitment issues is substantial and widely recognised. I was an advisor to the Conservative government on disability issues and in my capacity as President of the Institute of Employment Consultants worked closely with the then Minister of State, Minister for Disabled People, the Rt. Hon Alistair Burt.

I have practised as an expert since 1990 and personally delivered expert evidence in many hundreds of cases, usually of high value and demanding detailed investigation and analysis, but remain a very ‘hands-on’ recruiter.

In terms of recruitment and employment, I have interviewed many thousands of candidates from a wide variety of occupations and at all levels. In addition, The TRG Group has placed or assisted in excess of 250,000 people in to work.

I am past President of the Institute of Employment Consultants (now Recruitment & Employment Confederation). Throughout my 3-year term I initiated, and regularly contributed to, debates on issues affecting disabled people.

As Chair of the Joint Consultative Council for Recruitment Practice, I enabled the bringing together of relevant organisations concerned with recruitment and employment including the then Department of Education and Employment, the CIPD, the Employers Forum on Disabilities and other industry organisations, as a forum to promote best recruitment practice.

From 1993-1995, I was Chair of the Recruitment Committee of the Academy of Experts and a member of the Executive Committee and of Council and was elected Vice Chairman of the Academy in September 1997.

In the late '90s I was nominated by the recruitment industry for Personality of the Year as well as for Outstanding Contribution to the Recruitment Industry, both for my work in founding and co-ordinating the Priority 2000 employment agency initiative, which helped over 1,700 people with disabilities return to work.

Trevor's specialisms:
Trevor has worked in the City of London all his life and has numbered most banks and finance houses among his clients. He is an inveterate networker with specialist search and selection consultants and his many top level connections in the City provide him with an unparalleled knowledge of career structures and remuneration in banking and financial services.

Included in his wide and varied portfolio of expertise accumulated over 40 years is the structure and future profitability of small businesses, and the recruitment industry at all levels. Trevor is a long-practising student of karate and holds 19 dan grades in 3 styles. He holds a Master Teacher licence and consequently is able to offer a healthy dose of reality when reporting on this often misunderstood sector.

In the early '90s he owned and operated a Good Food Guide recommended fine dining restaurant and brasserie. Trevor maintains a strong interest in catering and has very good links within the hospitality industry.
