Meet the team – Phil Perlin

Qualifications and memberships:

  • BA (University of Kent)
  • Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CMCIPD).

Phil has over thirty years’ experience as a human resources professional and has worked in the Inland Revenue, Local Government, the Water Industry and Higher Education.

Prior to September 2004 he was Director of Human Resources for Oxford Brookes University, managing a department of 55 staff and a budget of over £900,000 a year.

In that role Phil was responsible for recruitment & selection, employee relations, employment law, pay and rewards systems, performance appraisal, role analysis, organisational reorganisation, staff development, child care services and health & safety.

Phil was also a non-executive Director of three commercial companies operating in higher education, one for purchasing advertising, one running an employment advertising agency and one managing a job evaluation scheme for 120 institutions.

Since 2004 he has been an employment expert and HR consultant, having compiled over 300 employment reports for claimants, defendants and joint instructions covering most employment fields. Phil has completed numerous vocational rehabilitation assessments over a wide range of occupational categories.

As an HR consultant Phil currently undertakes job evaluation and has provided discipline and grievance handling and consultancy for organisation restructuring.

Phil is also a member of the Monitoring Board at Woodhill High Security Prison and a former member of the Board of Thames Valley Probation.
